Our Understanding

OELP’s effort has been to translate theoretical ideas into classroom processes in ways that make them accessible to teachers and other practitioners and are practical to implement on a larger scale.

OELP views Foundational Learning as an active developmental process through which young learners realize that reading, writing and numeracy have connections with their lived experiences and inner worlds, making learning relevant and purposeful for each child.
